Canada and the OAS Announce Open Call for Applications for the 6th Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE)

The Call for Applications for the 6th Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE) in Canada is open now through July 7, 2016. The week-long tour will receive host over 50 key business leaders and policy makers of the Americas and the world to share knowledge and exchange best practices; identify opportunities for collaboration and enhance trade at the regional, national, and local levels. The event will take place in Southern Ontario – part of Canada’s economic heartland – from September 25th through October 1st, 2016. It will include visits to the cities of Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, and the Niagara Region, and will focus on six different clusters: Advanced Manufacturing; ICT; Clean Tech; Life Sciences; Agri-food; and Financial Technologies.

The Sixth ACE tour in Southern Ontario will showcase how Canada is creating programs and regulations, developing new infrastructure, and expanding into new markets to help its businesses innovate and grow. It will also provide global leaders with “a unique opportunity to engage in two-way dialogue on how international partners can work together to advance competitiveness and productivity, and improve the health and environmental outcomes of communities all around the world.”

The event is co-organized by the Inter-American Competitiveness Network (RIAC), the Government of Canada, through Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada; the Province of Ontario, Canada; the Secretariat of Economy of Mexico, as Chair Pro Tempore of RIAC 2016-2018 and the Organization of American States (OAS), as RIAC Technical Secretariat.

Individuals interested in participating in this activity must complete and submit the application form by July 7th, 2016. Partial financial assistance may be available for qualifying selected candidates from the Americas who request support, particularly those from smaller economies.
